Business Insights: Building a Thriving Waxing Practice

With over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, I've learned that success in waxing isn't just about technique—it's also about smart business practices. Let's explore some key strategies for growing a successful waxing business.

1. Understanding Your Market

Knowing your clientele is crucial. For instance, my clients are primarily women aged 20-50 in the USA and Canada. Tailor your services and marketing to your audience for better engagement.

2. Quality Services are Key

Quality services create satisfied clients and generate referrals. Use top-notch products and uphold high hygiene standards to stand out. Each client is unique. Customize your services to meet individual needs, enhancing client satisfaction and loyalty. Call your client by their name.

3. Building a Strong Online Presence

In our digital era, an online presence is vital. Develop a user-friendly website where it is easy to book online and be active on social media to showcase your work and engage with your audience. Before and after pictures are especially helpful and post your reviews.

4. Effective Communication

Communication builds trust. Be responsive to client inquiries and concerns, showing your professionalism and care. Take the time to really listen to your clients. Discussing medications with your client ensures that they are informed about the potential effects on their waxing experience. This conversation can also let them know risks and benefits of waxing on certain medications.  If your client has a complaint the best thing to do is tackle a complaint immediately. Listen to your client and find out what would make them happy.

5. Continuing Education: The More You Learn, The More You Earn

In the ever-evolving world of beauty, keeping your skills and knowledge up-to-date is essential. This is where continuing education becomes your secret weapon. By constantly learning new trends, techniques, and products, you position yourself at the forefront of the industry. And don't forget about diversifying your skill set. For instance, while I specialize in hard wax, soft wax, and sugar wax, I also continuously explore other areas to enhance my service offerings.

Moreover, in today’s digital world, access to education is at our fingertips. I'm excited to share that through my website, "Secrets of Estheticians," I offer a range of online waxing classes. These classes are designed to cater to both newcomers and seasoned professionals. They provide comprehensive insights into various waxing techniques, tips on quick and efficient hair removal, and strategies for avoiding common issues like skin lifting or bruising.

What makes these online classes stand out? Ask our our students:

REVIEWS Brazilian Waxing Class

“I feel like I learned a TON from that course and already plan to try some new products! I also tried Libbeys technique on 2 clients of starting with the booty and it's literally a game changer and makes so much sense. That was not the way we learned in school but now that I started doing it that way, it's definitely more comfortable for the client and makes the whole service go faster!”

"Hey Libbey! I just want to let you know, I took your Brazilian wax course and learned SO MUCH. Just a bit of a back story, I worked at EWC but for some reason i was always having trouble with Brazilians so they ended up letting me go. I was about to give up and then I thought about your class. I figured if i didn’t learn anything from that then I’m just gonna have to leave the industry altogether. I learned your technique and put it to the test and got the best results i’ve ever had in my life. I didn’t leave any hair behind and my client was comfortable and happy with the results. She even left me a super sweet review! Libbey, I wish I could go to your classes in San Diego and maybe one day i’ll be able to—but you truly are a gift. Thank you so so much for sharing your tips and tricks you are truly amazing. Just thought I’d DM you with feedback lol. Have a beautiful day!!!"

"Hello Libbey:

Also wanted to let you know that since completing your class in just one week, my speed time have improved tremendously.

Had previously taken a sugaring class & just wasn't grasping sugaring. Watching your video where you added sugar with wax strip on sensitive areas was a game changer for me. Plus our clients are having a more pleasant experience (less painful).

Next up will be taking your Intimate Class!"

6. Client Retention Strategies
It's often more cost-effective to retain existing clients than to acquire new ones.

Encourage repeat bookings with:
1. Offer loyalty programs and discounts.
2. After the service ask your client when they want to come in again. Do not simple ask them if they want to rebook. Because this gives them the ability to say no And we want yes’s

7. The Power of Goal Setting

Setting clear, achievable goals is vital for business growth. Goals keep you focused and help measure progress. Set short-term and long-term objectives, like increasing client base, enhancing service quality, or expanding your skillset. Regularly review and adjust your goals to align with your business's evolving needs. Write down your goals this will:

1. Provides direction
2. Gives you focus
3. Greater productivity

8. Professional Work Habits

Success in the waxing business requires discipline, effective time management, and efficient work practices. Develop a structured routine for your workday, prioritize tasks, and manage your time wisely to maximize productivity. Maintain a professional attitude at all times, and stay organized to ensure a smooth workflow.

Conclusion:

Building a flourishing waxing practice involves a combination of skilled waxing, savvy business strategies, and professional habits. Keep these insights in mind as you develop your business. Every client is a potential long-term relationship, and each appointment is an opportunity to showcase your skills and dedication.
